Chicora Chapter
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Origin:

Founded in 1993. Current membership is about 60.

Meeting Information:

First Sunday of each month at Trinity Episcopal Church, 31st. Avenue, Myrtle Beach, SC, from 2-4:30 pm.

Chicora Stitchers is a maximum learning and stitching group (minimum business meeting) which emphasizes hands-on learning programs every month and at least two day trip outings per year.

Programs during 2005 will include the last stitches for the mystery band sampler and items to supply a needlework box, bag or basket (an "etui") with coordinated items. In creating such items as a needlebook, laying tool case, eyeglass/telephone case, scissors case, scissors fob, straight pin holder, and a cover or lining for the etui, members will explore pulled thread, creating fabric, crewel work, Trapunto, and crazy quilting, and learn about Deerfield Blue and White crewel work.

Two world traveling members will describe their trip to Australia and Australian needlework, and a pot luck lunch and teacup auction are planned for late summer.

In the spring, members will travel to Angelwings, a needlework shop in Southport, NC, and take the ferry to Wilmington for an afternoon of shopping in "Old Town". Summerville, SC, the home of an expanded needlework shop, a quilt/fabric shop, and other neat shops, will be the destination of the fall road trip.

The annual Christmas lunch is held at a different location, and includes an ornament exchange, secret pal drawing, favors, and door prizes.
