Origin:

Star Stitchers, founded in 1993, is a fun and friendly group that enjoys all kinds of needlework. Current membership is 50.

Meeting Information:

The chapter holds two membership meetings, both from 10:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.: the Saturday Group meets on the second Saturday at the Roanoke County 419 LibraryHandicapped Accessible, 3131 Electric Road, Roanoke (540-772-7507), and the Lake Group meets on the first Monday of the month at the Moneta Library , 13641 Moneta Road, Moneta (540-297-6474). Both locations are handicap accessibleHandicapped Accessible.

Programs in 2005 will include: spot sampler, Christmas tree canvas class, antique buttons, knitting shop trunk show and class, stack & whack quilt workshop, and mounting needlework for framing. A retreat is planned for early 2005 to a bead and breakfast near Lexington.

Star Stitchers are fond of pot lucks, as well as meeting for dinners, field trips, and stitching events.

Annual membership dues are $34.00

Guests are always welcome.

Special Interest Groups:

The Wednesday Night Group meets for a stitch-in on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Michael's, 1357 Towne Square Blvd NW, (540-265-8604). Activities include a "challenge" project, group projects on samplers, canvas work, knitting, and beading.
