Important Stitching Terms
Term | Definition |
FROGGING | Correcting a stitch mistake - you have to "Rip-it, rip-it, rip-it." |
FUPpie | Finished Unfinished Project (finished means all stitching is complete) (also see UFO(2) below) |
HSSY | Haven't Started Stitching Yet (pronounced "hissy"), which can lead to a HSSY Fit. |
IFF | I'm Finally Finished |
LNS | Local Needlework Shop |
ON THE WAGON | A period of time during which one avoids any SEX |
ORT | Old Raggedy Thread. Also, that little bit left over. |
PENELOPE STITCH | Reverse stitch. She "...unraveled by night what she wove by day...." |
PMS | Protecting My Stash |
PRUDE | Person Resisting Unnecessarily Diminishing Existing stash. Someone who won't StRIP. |
RR | Round Robin - a group stitching exchange project |
SABLE | Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy |
SAL | A Stitch-A-Long - two or more stitchers working on the same project. |
SEX | Stash Enhancement eXperience |
STAT (also STET) | Strip Threads All the Time (also Strip Threads Every Time) |
StRIP | Stash Reduction Implementation Plan - usually done when SABLE has been achieved. Typically, no SEX is allowed for a set amount of time and/or until a certain amount of stash is used up. |
StRIPPer | A person who is StRIPPing. |
TOAD | Too Old And Disgusting to ever work on again |
UFO(1) | UnFInished Object |
UFO(2) | Unfinished Finished Object |
WHIMM | Work Hidden In My Mind |
WIP | Work In Progress |
WISP | Work In Slow Progress |
