The Storr House

The miniature house donated by Mary Lou Storrs, and the result of a national EGA project, went on display in its permanent home at EGA national headquarters, Louisville, KY, in August 2003.  It is the subject of a feature article in the September 2004 issue of Needle Arts.

The house underwent a complete physical renovation in 2001, including a new roof, two chimneys, moldings throughout, flooring, wallpaper, wiring, light fixtures, doors, windows, exterior painting, and adding a room to the third floor.

Eleven regions elected  to furnish and decorate the nine rooms and three hallways of the three story, with an emphasis on embroidered accessories:  attic - Great Lakes, living room - Heartland, hallways - Metropolitan, kitchen - Mid-Atlantic, guest bedroom - Mid-Eastern, guest bedroom - Pacific Southwestern, sewing room - Rocky Mountain, master bedroom - South Central, dining room - Sun.

Carolinas Region is responsible for the nursery, pictured below for the first time thanks to Rachel Whittington.

Here are other photographs of the house for your enjoyment.  Note the many dazzling and magnificent accessories, such as the tiny dress on the dress form in the sewing room, the slippers in the master bedroom, the stair runner in the hallway (embroidered on silk gauze), and the bell pull in the guest bedroom.
