1/22/22: Strengthening Our Region and Its Chapters

The members of the Carolinas Region were invited to attend a meeting on Saturday, January 22, 2022, to discuss how to strengthen our region and its chapters.  Over the past few years, we have seen a decline in membership overall and chapters have had trouble attracting new members, filling officer positions, and engaging their members in chapter programs, so the time was right for us to take stock and make plans for future growth.

Marge Kelly, the National Vice President, presented some of the demographic results of the member survey that EGA National conducted in the fall of 2021.  Wendy Lynn, National Director of Membership and Marketing, provided some insight into the National marketing plan.  Following a question-and-answer period, the group generated a list of marketing activities that chapters have done or could do attract new members.

After the discussion, Carole Overton, the CAR Region Director, gave all of the chapters an action item:  Each chapter is to select and carry out one marketing activity (which could be from the above list but does not have to be) by May 1 of this year.  Then the chapters will have to report on what they did and how it went during our spring 2022 Board of Directors meeting.
